History
Lumière Synergie pour le Développement (LSD, Senegal) is
the fruit of the commitment of a group of researchers and human rights activists with experience in the governance of extractive industries in Senegal, Africa and beyond. After actively participating in the CSO consultation process on the World Bank's Information Dissemination and Access Policy, they decided to pool their experiences to advocate for Good Governance in International Financial Institutions and in the Management of Public Affairs.
Overall objective: Dedicate its efforts to building a strong and dynamic civil society for the sustainable political, economic and social development of Senegal.
Vision: Good governance and transparency in the management of business are sure-fire alternatives for moving the world towards greater peace and justice.
LSD collaborates with a number of like-minded networks at national, regional and international level.Today LSD is researching development projects that undermine human rights (including the environment), supports communities affected by development projects and organizes capacity-building workshops for civil society organizations and communities affected by development projects in Africa, on the transparency and accountability policies of International Financial Institutions and specifically on the African Development Bank (AfDB).
Finally, LSD supports affected communities in filing complaints with the Independent Mechanisms of the International Financial Institutions (IFIs) to obtain reparations and carries out advocacy/lobbying actions to influence Development.
